3 Reasons You Need to Be Using a Derma Roller Weekly

2 min read

Okay. So you’ve finally decided to dive into the wonders of the derma roller but aren’t quite sure how often you need to use it. It would be great if we could wing it and hope for the best, but in reality, skincare is much more finicky than that (who is with me on this?).

Derma Roller Range Australia

Our skin is our largest organ, and given it’s huge responsibility as the barrier between us and everything outside of us, it’s constantly under pressure. Weekly derma rolling keeps our skin up to the challenge of being our knight (or dame) in shining armour.

Bear in mind that as with any general guideline, there is room to make modifications. Weekly derma rolling is suitable for many, but if your skin is uber sensitive, you might want to start with once every second week and see how your skin reacts. For others, every few days might be suitable, but we’d recommend weekly treatments as a general rule of thumb.

So why weekly treatments? Well, let’s just start off by saying, “all good things take time…”

Real results can take a few weeks to establish themselves.
Weekly applications will get you there.

Many people who use the derma roller do notice immediate results. However, one of the great benefits of using a derma roller is that it penetrates deeper layers of the skin to stimulate new cell proliferation and break up scar tissue. Our skin sheds its outer layer continually over time, which means skin cells at deeper layers can take weeks to migrate to the surface. The depth of scars and wrinkles and the degree to which hyperpigmentation is an issue causes the time until real results appear to vary greatly. Weekly treatments keep you on the path towards more profound transformation. Patience is a virtue.

Like most things in life, derma rolling isn’t a ‘once and
you’re good’ solution.

Like working out or eating your greens, derma rolling offers the best results when we incorporate it into a regular schedule. This doesn’t mean we have to do it every day (which isn’t advised anyways for the derma roller); but it does require that we set a schedule that works for our skin. Since the skin is continually up against the elements and the realities of aging, staying on top of our derma rolling treatments helps us to mitigate the signs of aging by boosting collagen and elastin production.

Weekly treatments help to ensure efficient delivery of nutrients
to lower layers of your skin.

The derma roller helps topical treatments to permeate lower layers of your skin; so, using the roller weekly ensures that you’re getting the most out of your skincare products. Bear in mind then that you’ll want to ensure you’re using high quality products that you’re comfortable with absorbing.

Listen to your skin.

You know your skin better than anyone else. Pay attention to how it reacts to treatments to determine what is best for both you and it in any given moment. Also, it’s important to know that rollers with longer needles might not be suitable for even weekly use. Get to know your roller and its needles to assess what treatment plan will prove both safe and effective.

Once you’re all set, glow get it!
